There will be an air conditioned Mercedes car with English speaking driver waiting for you at Sorrento Port when you leave your ship. Sorrento Port being situated right in the heart of the Sorrento Peninsula makes it an ideal place to begin your excursion of this wonderful area. Once comfortably settled in your car a full day’s excursion will begin leaving the port area of Sorrento and travelling out from Sorrento to reach the motorway which will take us in your desired direction.

Pompei – Positano – Sorrento – take a step back in time when visiting the ancient ruins of Pompei the City which was destroyed by the devastating eruption of the volcano Vesuvius in 79 A.D. Imagine what life must have been like in this ancient city with statues of people as they were found after the eruption, preserved for all time in the lava.
From Pompei our visit takes us along the beautiful coastal road of Amalfi for our visit to Positano . Positano is the best place from which to take some commemorative photographs with splendid scenery that has rocky backdrops to them. This hilly town is also known for its particular fashions and you will find lots of shops to choose from amongst the warren of its streets.
Finally, arrive in Sorrento also, known as land of the mermaids. Visit the historical centre, the cathedral and the Church of Saint Antonino, the Patron Saint and Protector of the town. There are lots of souvenirs to be purchased here from the very famous lemon liquor (Limoncello) to the artistic objects made from the masters of inlaid woodwork art.

Sorrento – Amalfi – Ravello – Following the short drive up from the Port of Sorrento visit the historical centre of this famous town, see the Cathedral and look around the Church of Saint Antonino, the Patron Saint and Protector of the town visit the church dedicated to this Saint and see the many donations made be the local people in thanks to the Saint. Here you can find many objects made by the masters of the inlaid woodwork art from small items such as jewellery boxes and trays to larger items such as pieces of furniture.
Continue your day taking in the fantastic views whilst driving along the Amalfi coastline, along the route take photographs of the spectacular backdrops from the hilly mountains. In Amalfi look around the shops in the square which is dominated by the Arabian Norman style cathedral with its mosaic facade.
Following the road out of Amalfi we climb even further into the hills, passing the landscape which is lined by the grape vines and visit the lovely area of Ravello. Look at the two villas and imagine the classical summer concerts that take place here. Take advantage of the fact that you are in a wine producing area and try a glass or two of its wine.

Leaving the town of Herculaneum behind us, we take the ever upward road to the volcano itself Vesuvius. This volcano is one that lies dormant for the time being as is constantly being controlled by the specialists for any signs of life. We leave our car at a certain point on the upward climb to continue on foot arriving at the summit and for a chance to peer into the crater.

NAPLES CITY –ROYAL PALACE OF CASERTA – start your day with a drive out of Sorrento on the main coastal road before taking the motorway to the City of Naples . Once in the City we have time to visit cultural monuments, churches and Royal Palace and not be missed in the underground City that lies beneath. Walk around in the heart of the Neapolitan area passing typical shops and pizzerias.
Continue your day with a drive to the Royal Palace of Caserta in all its splendour. This is built along the lines of the Palace of Versailles in France and you can visit the stately rooms and walk around its majestic gardens.
During your day take time out for a relaxing drink or lunch in one of the many bars and restauarants that we come to during our excursion.
Sorrento – Positano – Capri - Start your day driving up from the Port and walk around the streets of one of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe. This town is also known as land of the mermaids. Visit the historical centre, the cathedral and the Church of Saint Antonino, the Patron Saint and Protector of the town. Sorrento’s history is steeped in legends of attacks by the Saracens and walk along the wall which once protected the town from invasion. Whilst looking around, why not visit the Limoncello making shop and taste some of the famous liquor made from the local Lemons.
Continue the day with a visit to Positano, driving along the Amalfi coastline with its breathtaking views. There are some spectacular views to be seen and photographed whilst walking along this hilly town well known for its fashions.
From Positano we take a boat trip to the beautiful Island of Capri. Walk around the chic shops or take time out in one of the bars. Take time to visit the Blue Grotto with its spectacular colours bouncing off the particular rock formations in this grotto. This island is a holiday treat for the famous and who knows, it might be the chance to meet someone from the ‘big screen’.

Paestum – Salerno City –The Greek navigators in the 7th Century B.C. built this area which is a famous archaeological site, walk around the Temple of Neptune (God of the Sea) from the 5th Century and learn more about the mythical Gods.
Staying in Paestum there is time to visit the Mozzarella Factory where you will see this world renown cheese being made and get to taste some. This area is very famous for the Buffalo mozzarella.
Continue into the City of Salerno visiting its churches and monuments and also be told about the Artistic light display that is here during the Festive Season.

Sorrento Countryside – Amalfi Coast – visit the countryside surrounding Sorrento and drive along to the village of Massa Lubrense and then take the road down to its picturesque Marina where you can see the fishermen tending their nets. From here we drive further up into the hills to S. Agata sui due Golfi before taking the scenic road out of Sant’Agata and continuing along the spectacular Amalfi coast road into Amalfi when there will be time to stop and take photographs of the breathtaking backdrops along this route.
In Amalfi there is time to walk around the square which is dominated by its Norman-Arabian Cathedral with its mosaic facade.
During the day stop and have a relaxing lunch in anyone of the many typical restaurants.
Amalfi – Vietri sul Mare – Ravello – This is a wonderful day taking in some of the jewels of the Amalfi coastline. Visit Amalfi with its picturesque square being dominated by the Arabian-Norman style cathedral. Continue with your visit to Vietri sul Mare and look around the factory and museum of the artistic ceramic industry with a view to taking an authentic souvenir home with you.
After we continue our day climbing high into the hills which are steeped in what looks like steps lined with vineyards to arrive in Ravello. Ravello has a lovely picturesque square surrounded by shops and bars on all sides. Visit the two Villas that can be found here admire the wonderful views from the Villa Rufolo, the larger of the two, and its magnificent gardens.

Herculaneum – Naples City – Start your day with a visit to Herculaneum, the town that was destroyed alongside Pompei in the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A.D. After visiting the archaeological site and imagining how life was in days gone by we continue our day with a stop in the City of Naples.
Once in the heart of the Neapolitan City we have to time to visit its churches with all their history and Saints, majestic monuments and the caverns that form the underground City. Take a leisurely walk along the ‘Spaccanapoli’ road which literally divides the City in two and look at some of the old crafts that are still used to make some of the City’s souvenirs.
Take time out during the day, not only for a relaxing drink along route but also the famous Neapolitan Pizza.
